This year's Scale World model show had as main theme World War One

I managed to get up early on a Sunday

... for a half hour ride (not even 20 miles)

And I arrived around 10AM... which is unusually early for me

Heaven...

Actually 3 heavens, as the event takes place in 3 big rooms

With a lot of temptation...

My brain was whispering I still didn't have an Airbus in my collection

I told my brain to shut up

But how can I resist this ???

The competition room

Aircraft category - smaller scales

Heinkel He-177 Greif in 1/72 scale (Revell)

Another Heinkel, though a He-111B-2, nick named Pedro by the Condor Legion (1/72 scale)

1/72 scale CH-113 Labrador

First time I saw a PWS-10 (1/72 scale)

Pretty cool !

A very colorfull Sopwith Camel - RAF training aircraft, late 1918 (1/72 scale)

1/72 scale Fokker Dr.I strip down kit from Eduard

Note the guns and spoked wheels

A pretty clean Tigermeet Sukhoi Su-22 (1/72 scale)

A specially marked Phantom F-4F of JG-71 "Richthofen" - in 1/72 scale

1/144 scale Tomcat - the smallest aircraft in the show

There were slightly more models in the bigger aircraft categories

A Belgian TF-104 in 1/48 scale

Note the Tigermeet drop tanks

1/48 scale Messerschmitt Me-410 with an exposed engine

Some amazing weathering on this Junkers Ju-87D-1 Stuka in 1/48 scale

Czech Air Force MiG-29 in 1/48 scale

The detail was amazing - and the model took away Gold in it's class

1/48 scale Il-2 Shturmovik

First production FB-111A in July 1968 (HobbyBoss 1/48 scale)

Musthave! (I still have to get used to this company's name) F-86K Sabredog in 1/48 scale

1/48 scale Mil Mi-24V Hind of 231 Tiger squadron, Czech Air Force

Sukhoi Su-24M "Fencer D" - in 1/48 scale

Again a well detailed model of a Soviet/Russian type

A very nice display for this Heinkel He-100 (1/48 scale)

A big 1/32 scale Harrier GR.9

MiG-23 in 1/32 scale

The biggest model in the contest was this French Ju-88A-4 (Revell 1/32 scale)

1/32 scale Albatros D.Va

There is also a category for naked (unpainted) models

Interesting to see how many different parts are used on a model

The Science Fiction / Fantasy category...

"A girl and her pickup"

Queen Kerosin

The fast and the furious

A few ships were competing in the ship category

Well detailed 1/700 scale IJN Kongo

The car categories had more entries

Fujimi 1/24 scale Toyota Corolla Levin TE27

Bright, spotless red Ferrari Testarossa (1/43 scale)

1/43 scale Maserati Mistral

"Flower and (Ford) Power)" (1/25 scale)

A nice conversion - based on a picture

I liked this ZIL-157 "Logging truck" conversion (1/35 scale)

Time for a small break

And a short walk

RetroKit had (as always) several nice things on offer - sweet Sweet kits which you don't find so often over here

First time I saw Uschi van der Rosten

The 3rd room

The mighty G6 is available at last

New and old kits...

In all scales...

There were also club stands

Promoting the hobby

Putting their work on show - such as this splendid Fokker Dr.I collection

Very varying collection

Working on a ship

Folks from Scale Model Factory

Awards to be won

There were several demonstrations during the day

Chris Jerret explaining Weathering with pigments

Hugo Luyten explaining some of the techniques he used...

... on his splendid, award winning Italeri Wessex

Time to enjoy the remaining categories of the contest

1/72 scale PzIV Flak 36 Flakpanzer

Crusader Mk.I in 1/72 scale

A Kingtiger thundering down a country road (1/72 scale)

This New Jersey Army National Guard monument will be very difficult to top on colorfulness...

Very original 1/72 scale work - based on pictures - of an M-60 Patton

Interesting conversion work on a small 1/76 scale Matilda

"Krasnaja Zvezda" (Red Star) spring 1942 (1/72 scale)

"All for one... one for all" - Langemark 1918 (1/72 scale)

I liked the muddy look in the display with this 1/48 scale Sherman

BT-42 in 1/35 scale

KV-I in 1/35 scale

1/35 scale M3 Scout Car in Soviet markings

Beautiful winter Tiger I (1/35 scale) on the Eastern front, January 1944

Michael Wittmann himself

M4 Sherman driving into Coutances, Normandy - August 1944 (1/35 scale)

Though the main theme of the contest was World War One - there were (understandingly) only a few models fitting this theme

This 1/35 scale Whippet was one of them

My favorite model in the contest... I just loved the "hanging down" look in the rear

1/35 scale Henschel 33D1 - Gothic Line - Italy 1944

Char B bis (1/35 scale) in German winter markings

Soldiers ready for action

I couldn't keep my eyes of the canvas sheets on this Kingtiger

Very well done - adding a lot of realism to the model

A Czechoslovak T-55 AM2B "Kladivo" - in 1/35 scale

1/35 scale Shilka

A well used T-72 tank (1/35 scale)

You can't have a contest without an M1A1 Abrams tank (1/35 scale)

"Scorched Earth" - Russia 1943 - with an abandonned T-34 (1/35 scale)

"Vogelkunde" (1/35 scale)

An early factory fresh Brummbar (1/35 scale)

"First in Bastogne" - 1/35 scale diorama

"What if... the story is gone?"

Abandonned 8.8 Flakgun with Befehlskreuzlafette, Cologne, March 1945 (1/35 scale)

An unlucky Brummbar (1/35 scale)

Semovente M40 in 1/35 scale

1/35 scale diorama "Over de Desna rivier"... or crossing the Desna river

1/35 scale Char B bis

"Officer's privilege" (1/35 scale)

The figure categories

"Mustard agent"... somewhere on the Western front

"Pirate Party"

"A mermaid's song"

"Mother of all Pirates"

"Alles Meins"

"Shit !"

"The lady in red"

"This must be Belgium"

Kuifje (Tintin)

Halt !

Venetian

Oddball

"Fallschirmjäger 1944"

Most important is that one doesn't forget to shop at a show...

The new 1/48 scale Fouga Magister

.... wrong scale

I remembered I still didn't have the new Airfix Blenheim

.... maybe next time

Ooow !

Sales bins !

Now there were some titles I could use...

Yes sir !

And I also picked up a Zakhar refueler... something I can smuggle into an aircraft diorama... one fine day

Driving home I realized the end of summer isn't so bad

... we can visit model shows again
