  Nieuwegein

  The Netherlands

A show which gets better and better every year is Euro Scale Modelling

... or as I like to call it, the Dutch Nationals

It's almost a two hours drive north

And I managed to get up early - at 8AM

So I arrived at 10AM, only to discover there was a huge queue

Seemed the doors only were opened at 10AM

Entrance fee was 6 euro

And then you could enjoy all the fun in the two big halls

There were several collections to be admired

Even trucks...

And SIGs

Things for sale - including vacs

Things with tempting discounts

Or with tempting prices

(... do I see now an Airfix Bulldog for 2 euro... ?)

Or with tempting rare subjects

From the famous

To the Big Ones

There was also room for paper modellers

These ships were amazing - built from paper

The show is organized by IPMS Netherlands

Several chapters had a display

Interesting models were on display on club stands

This one made me smile

Revell had a promo booth

Where new kits could be admired

There was a nice Airfix tribute display

I never knew they made a violin

The Airfix history in an attractive timeline

Always loved the Airfix Eagle

But we were here to enjoy the contest

Which was open to the general public (me!) again, after lunch (when it was closed due to judging)

SH-14D Westland Lynx MLD

1/72 scale Westland Wasp MLD

Fokker S.14 Machtrainer - prototype 1953 (1/72 scale)

A magnificent 1/32 scale Aero L-39 ZA Albatros in Algerian markings (HPH)

Sukhoi Su-15TM (1/72 scale A-Model kit, with ALCLAD II metal finish)

A lot of work went into this 1/32 scale Grumman A-6A Intruder cut-away

A classic you don't see so often, the Hasegawa Boeing B-47E in 1/72 scale

Guatemalan Air Force collection - in 1/72 scale - with a P-51 Mustang and an AT-37 Dragonfly

Aichi E3A1 Jake in 1/48 scale - Nichimo - with Lone Star Models cockpit and engines

Italian Bombardier CL-415 in flying position - in 1/72 scale

Attractive Morane Saulnier D-3801 in 1/72 scale

1/72 scale Heinkel He-177

First time I see the B-26 in 1/144 scale - with Kits-World decals - nice !

1/72 scale Boeing 247 - from Pennsylvania Central Airlines

Getting the "Best of Show" award - was this 1/72 scale United Air Lines Boeing 247

A show with 2 Boeing 247s must be a good show

Of course there were more Dutch subjects - Koolhoven F.K.56 (1/72 scale)

1/48 scale Kingfisher - from Monogram - with a Cutting Edge conversion set

Only Italians can come up with something elegant as this - Savoia Marchetti S.65 - 1/72 scale

1/72 scale Antonov An-2 - Aeroflot

1/72 scale P-40E in 1942 Dutch markings

"Le Bourget 1920" - a very interresting diorama (1/72 scale) with a Farman F.60 and a Spad 33

1/72 scale Fokker F.27 Mk.400 diorama (Esci)

1/48 scale McDonnell XF-85 Goblin after it's first test flight, 23 August 1948

Moving over to the military vehicles categories

Sherman Firefly IC Hybrid hull (1/35 scale)

BA-20 (1/72 scale)

Panzerjäger R35 (1/72 scale)

I liked this

A diorama with a HO scale Volvo truck - pretty original

As was this - "Little Fisher boy"

Dodge WC-54 conversion - tow truck

"Cottage Games" - a diorama with a Jeep crew at rest (1/35 scale)

"The war can wait" (1/35 scale)

"Peach Springs abandoned service station" - 1/25 scale

It's a show which usually has a lot of cars in the contest

Dodge Challenger R/T (1/25 scale)

Beautiful paintwork on this 1/25 scale 1969 Corvette

1/43 scale Ferrari 290 MM

1/25 scale 1955 Chevy Pick-up

There were a few ships in the contest

H.M.T. Homeguard

And several figure models

I liked this snail "Mittelalterliche Burgschnecke"

"The Goblin King"

Yellow Christmas

"Meisje op het strand" (Girl on the beach)...

"Undead King"

"Mayday Mayday Mayday..."

But the best part of this show was meeting Daniele S and son Alberto again

It's always good catching up talking models

.... and buying stuff

... and taking home many good memories

It sure was worth getting up early on a Saturday - time flew by

All comments, remarks, suggestions and especially corrections are welcome

Thank you
