  Slovakia

The biggest model show in Slovakia, Plastic Winter, celebrated it's 10th anniversary

From Prague it is a 4 hours train ride south

What means getting up VERY early

(... that's indeed 5:39AM on the clock...!)

But you have plenty of time to wake up

Arriving in Bratislava around 10:00

Grabbing a taxi for the 10 minutes ride

... to bring me to the show's location, just outside of Bratislava

What I like about this show is the free possibility to drop your jacket & other stuff

Not many shows have this...

So far everything went well...

But, I had borrowed my girlfriend's tripod, as I had left mine in Belgium

Upon unpacking the tripod... I found out it was missing the pad to fix the camera on

So I had to take my pictures while using the tripod as best as possible as a support

I looked like an idiot

... but it kinda worked - sometimes

Not the new A-Model kit - but the Mach 2 kit - a very colorful, pre-war Dornier Do-26 (1/72 scale)

The new 1/72 scale Bloch 152 from RS Models

Another new RS Models kit - the 1/72 scale Yak-11

Morane Saulnier J - from Temsk - out of the box (1/72 scale)

Pfalz A.II from AZ Model - in Swiss Air Force markings (1/72 scale)

Grumman E-2C Hawkeye in 1/48 scale from Kinetic

Exotic looking Wildcat on floats (1/48 scale)

Aichi Seiran - in 1/48 scale

Eduard's 1/48 scale Me-109G - a splendid build

Yak-9 (1/48 scale) from Eduard

1/48 scale Me-109G-14 from Eduard - with the Royal Class fragment of a real 109

1/72 scale Catalina from Academy

1/72 scale Nakajima G8N Renzan bomber

Australian Mirage IIIO (High Planes) in 1/72 scale

Me-262 A-1a/U4 from Revell in 1/72 scale

Albatros Dr.I (1/72 scale)

A skinned Eduard DH.2 in 1/48 scale

... And then someone does the same with a DH.2 in 1/144 scale

Lloyd C.V from Special Hobby (1/72 scale)

A big beast... Mil-26T from Zvezda in 1/72 scale

Mil-17 (also) from Zvezda - in SAR markings (1/72 scale)

P-40N Warhawk - in 1/48 scale

The old Smer kit Macchi MC.72 - in 1/50 scale

Me-262 A-1 - from Tamiya (1/48 scale)

A forgotten and seemingly abandonned MiG-15 - in 1/48 scale

Kursk 1943 (1/35 scale)

1/35 scale Mercedes L4500R from Zvezda

Komintern & ML-20 from Trumpeter (1/35 scale)

Tatra 815 AV-15 - in 1/35 scale

The trucks and car categories were located in another room

I always liked the impressive sight of the Tatra T-815 TP - 1/87 scale model from MM Brno

Tatra T-148 AD20 - from Icar - 1/87 scale

Zil 131 Wood transport - a very nice conversion from the ICM model - in 1/72 scale

Koreiets 1890 - from Box 261 - 1/350 scale

The remains of the Titanic - scratch build

The figure categories... not idealy placed

I had to take pictures against the light from the windows

So all where not that good

But this I like to show because of the Interesting Composition

Nice !

And hey... let's also show this

There was also a category with paper models

Neat work - and I liked that dog

The junior categories

1/48 scale MiG-3 looking fabulous, and getting one of the awards in the junior categories

A spotless 1/24 scale Alfa Romeo GTV, also getting one of the awards in the junior categories

A walk through the vendor area

... the folks from HPH Models - with their giant 1/48 scale Concorde

The MPM room

With 20% discount - on new kits no less

And test shots of the new 1/48 scale Sabre Dog - and 1/32 scale Tempest

But I was particularly interested in this 1/72 scale resin conversion set - on sale next year (2015)

Another retooled release

RS Models and Fly

With the new 1/32 scale Arado 232

Hey.. a small scale Battle !

I just love browing through 2nd hand resin kits...

This caught me by surprise - a Faun tanktransporter - in 1/72 scale

... sadly I forgot to buy it (that's what happens if you don't buy immediatly) !

The new 1/72 scale "Löwe" from Armory

1/144 scale Valiant - and the all new 1/144 scale Yak-11s - from a friendly vendor coming all the way from Ukraine

More temptation (which I managed to resist)

AZ Model

Soon it was time to say goodbye to the show

And get a taxi back to the central station

... 20 minutes early

The train was a little late

And four hours later I was back in Prague

Some of the things that followed me home

But my favorite - by far - was this new KP kit

Not often exotic aircraft get tooled so sharply with high quality

Thank you all for your interest and time

... and my apologies for the lower quality of many pictures

All comments, remarks, suggestions and especially corrections are welcome

Thank you
