Belgian Scale Modellers Convention 2014

The last show of the year is only a 30 minutes drive away for me   What means - very importantly - not having to get up early   This years special theme was 14-18 ... or World War I !   I arrived already around 10AM   The contest area - aircraft categories ... all on one long table   1/48 scale F-104G Marineflieger Starfighter   1/48 scale Hawker Tempest TT.5 - from Eduard   1/48 scale A-10 N/AW (Night / All Weather) ... a nice model of the one experimental prototype   1/48 scale PV-1 Ventura   The Ventura had some nice details added   1/48 scale Hawker Sea Hawk FGA.6   1/48 scale MiG-29 in Czech colors   The model took away Gold in the Master 1/48 aircraft category   1/48 scale "Wustenschlange" Bell P-39L Airacobra   "Wooden Vampire" D.H. Vampire T.11 ... also awarded with Gold in the Master 1/48 aircraft category   1/35 scale V1 Fi-103 RE3 Flying Bomb Trainer   1/72 scale F-14 Tomcat   1/48 scale F-21 Lion   1/72 scale Mil Mi-24D   I think this was the most detailed model in the contest ... and awarded with Gold in the Master 1/72 (and smaller) aircraft category   The other long table held all military vehicles and diorama's   1/72 scale T-34/76 Mod. 1942   1/72 scale Jagdtiger   1/35 scale Ward LaFrance   1/35 scale Marmon-Herrington ... based on the IBG kit   1/35 scale Panther F   1/35 scale BRDM 1-U   1/35 scale Renault FT-17   1/35 scale BTR-60 ... picking up Gold in the Master 1/35 military category   1/35 scale Mark IV ... another Gold winner in the Master 1/35 military category   1/35 scale St.Chamont 1917 ... awarded with Gold in the Master 1/35 military Out of the Box category   1/35 scale Mark IV with Tadpole tail   1/35 scale Whippet (1918)   1/35 scale Lanchester Mk.II   1/35 scale M1127 Stryker   1/35 scale Morris Quad ... from Tamiya   "Dropping bombs" 1/35 scale Panzer 38(t) in Russia 1941   1/35 scale LRDG diorama : "Cold Wind Blows"   1/35 scale diorama : "Goose Attack"   ... find the goose   Nice work on the tank commander   1/35 scale diorama "Victims of War"   Note the camera man...   And the cow acting as a horse...   The diorama took away Gold in the Masters diorama category   1/35 scale diorama "Sicilian's way"   1/35 scale diorama "The workshop" - from Spencer Pollard ... and getting Gold in the Masters diorama category as well   1/35 scale Char B1 bis le "Vercors"   Moving to the other categories ... starting with civilian vehicles 1/24 scale MAN truck   1/24 scale Ferrari 250GT SWB   1/35 scale collection ... of Mercedes Im Kriege (Mercedes in War)   "Raging Bull"   ... taking away gold in the advanced SF (?) category   1/350 scale ship diorama "Where is Winston ?"   Because it was in a glass box ... it was difficult to take good pictures of this model   Luckily there was a small booklet documenting the build   And showing some more details   The Figure categories Starting with : "Frozen City" (1/35 scale)   Princesse Azur   White sleeve soldier   "Get the milk !"   An original diorama ... getting Gold in the Beginners figure category   "Sent from heaven"   With some excellent paint work ... awarded with Gold in the Advanced figure category   "Colours of the Ocean"   Oberleutnant 3rd Light Infantry Regiment 1917   The Juniors category   All the awards to be won...   Several clubs attended this show : Scale Model Factory from the Netherlands   MMV - or Middelkerkse Modebouw Vereniging ... visiting from a small town at the sea   MCW - Modelbow Club Willebroek ... coming from a small town nearby   Someone who thinks the best things are only for girls...   Some tables had kits, books or decals for sale   What do I spot there... ?   A cheap Fieseler Storch - 3 euro ... though already started - but only slightly   And an early B-17 conversion ... but in 1/48 scale   Tim Vereecke, the man and brain behind Scalemates ... promoting the website   The second hall was filled with many vendors   Selling old classics   A lot of old Esci tank kits   Sales bins   RetroKit   Who had a new MiG-25 PU/RU conversion set on offer ... in 1/144 scale   Which I bought - at 5,99 euro   With all the 1/32 scale Wingnut Wings hype going on ... I was wondering about trying FIRST a CHEAP 1/32 scale World War One biplane   But common sense prevailed I already have enough kits in my 1/72 scale stash back home ... no need to start a stash in another scale   We only feed the 1/72 stash Like with this...   And at least trucks don't take up much shelf space (once build!) That was my excuse to buy this new release   And ermmm... 144 scale doesn't take much place either 3,50 euro each...   Thank you all All comments, remarks, suggestions and especially corrections are welcome Thank you
