Modellbrno 2019

This is a great show ... held every two years - in the lovely Czech town of Brno   Thursday evening I flew back home from a business trip in Africa   Connecting in Frankfurt...   And upon arrival in Brussels on Friday noon ... they had lost my luggage   To calm down I clocked some bench time when I was back home   In the evening, I left for Prague   ... but without my tripod - as I didn't have my suitcase   It was a short night in Prague   I had to get up early to take the train to Brno   ... at 5h50   For a 2h30 minutes train ride to the east   I spent a happy hour in Brno looking for a taxi   And eventually I arrived at the show   100 czk entrance fee (about 4 EUR - or 4.50 USD)     There were again a lot of models in the contest These are the tables for the junior categories - AND all the aircraft categories   The smaller 144 scale...     To the mainstream scales - like 1/72 scale...               My show favorite             The bigger scales - including 1/48 and 1/32...               The big 1/32 scale C-47 from HPH Models...           Meanwhile I had hooked up with our good friend Miro ... and we enjoyed the model throwing contest outside   A great tradition at this show       The place were any part of the model touches the ground first - is the distance thrown     In the end an M8 Greyhound won I guess it is more streamlined then any aircraft model   It was too hot to hang around much longer outside   So we moved back indoors ... to admire ALL the other contest categories - on the second table set up   Military vehicles in the smaller scales...                   Little pieces of art in the unusual 1/90 scale   ... from Zvezda       Military vehicles in bigger scales...                       Best title of the show   Slowly moving over to the civilian categories     Including science fiction...           Several models in the figure categories...   ... including, I believe - scratch built work - based on a famous picture       Time to have a look at all the vendors which were at this show Brengun / Hauler     Where I couldn't resist this cute, little truck   The Eduard corner...   KP - Kovozavody Prostejov ... one of the product lines of AZ Models   New releases displayed sideways Who says we modelers have an easy life ?   HPH Models   With a big 1/48 scale B-52 in the works...   Kora Models   This might come in handy... someday   A Polish vendor had the new Twin Pioneers from Valom on offer Too bad I was travelling without a suitcase !   Copper State Models     Armory came over all the way from Ukraine   With the new Su-24   And I had been eye balling this little ZIL truck for already quite some time   Clear Prop     One of the surprises at the show was the new Fiat G-50 release from Fly     Which I couldn't resist...   Plenty of tables to refresh... ... where I had a final drink with Miro   Miro had brought along a few presents for me   This was going to challenge my backpack   We said goodbye ... and I took a taxi back to the station   Where I took the 15h40 train back to Prague   Enjoying the many new memories ... at a comfortable speed   Arriving somewhere after 18h in Prague   The next few days I enjoyed the city with my girlfriend   And on Tuesday I flew back to Belgium   It was all highly enjoyable again And I am sorry for the lower quality of the images ... as I had to take all pictures with my smartphone - freehand   All comments, remarks, corrections, suggestions are welcome   Previous reports on Modellbrno :   by Date Location     Images Modellbrno 2017 : IPMS Brno : Saturday 17 June 2017 : Brno Exhibition Centre   Brno   Czech Republic   : 106   by Date Location     Images Modellbrno 2013 : KPM Brno : Friday/Saturday 21/22 July 2013 : Brno Exhibition Centre   Brno   Czech Republic   : 119
