The last year of the war in Europe - was this years theme for this two day show ... also known as the Belgian Nationals
For me it is only a one hour drive west
I left late - around 11 AM
... and I arrived just before noon
Entrance was free again
The show is - of course - organized by IPMS Belgium
Many local clubs participated...
But there were also a few clubs from abroad ... like from Germany
... or from France
... or from the UK
I liked this tribute to Buck Danny ... one of our best known aviation comic book characters
I spent many happy hours reading these in my childhood
The contest area was on a very long table ... in the middle of the big hall
With the aircraft categories at the complete end
Starting with the smaller 144 scale subjects ... with only a handful of entries
1/72 scale subjects...
An entry in the Collection category ... consisting of 4 or more similar models
However, most aircraft entries were in the 1/48 scale categories
Some of the very few 1/32 scale entries...
... and the only 1/24 scale aircraft model
The figure categories (... with the ship categories in the background)
Note the cow in the background - and the dog
A cool steam punk idea...
I bet nobody noticed the tiger in the diorama above ?
... but you all did see Lara Croft !
The few ships in the contest were high level masterpieces
Civilian vehicles - all scales...
I love the radiator on this party bus
There were also paint demonstrations
... and 1/1 scale reference material
But I was mostly interested in the many vendor tables
Tempting...
The Aviation Bookstore - from the UK
Discounts... Buy one - get the second one for free
I found two old but suitable kits for the Highstrutter groupbuild
A resin Fieseler Fi-256...
... and an old AML He-46 These should be a lot of fun
L'Arsenal - from France
Syhart Decal - also from France
A brand new Arado ... though not my scale
Nostalgia in tinlets...
Back to the contest tables ... for the military categories
Only very few small 1/72 scale entries
1/48 scale
As always ... 1/35 scale outnumbered all other scale military categories
Diorama's
The Science Fiction category
Those cute little egg models had their own category
I had my last round through the vendors area Do I need another Neptune - at 20 euro ?
PJ Productions
Special Hobby - from the Czech Republic
... working hard on new upcoming releases
The biggest surprise was their brand new Potez 25
I hadn't expected this kit to be available already...
AZ Model - also from the Czech Republic
It was already late in the afternoon when I headed back home
... with quite a few boxes in the backseat
At 15 euro, a reminder to build another Mustang soon
Also at 15 euro - another option for the Highstrutter groupbuild
... just like this one - at 10 euro
I couldn't pass these by - at 8 euro each
... nor this at 15 euro
It was a bit of an expensive day... I am still not on speaking terms with my wallet
