PilsenKIT 2016 show report) Part III November 2016 - Smaller and ugly - Azur : Vultee V-11 My 3rd Chinese Nationalist build of the year - a theme which I am starting to like It's a typical limited run kit - requiring some work, but with a very good fitting vac canopy Part I Part II Part III Part IV Part V October 2016 - Plastic redemption - MikroMir : Yakovlev Yak-23 Having built two other 144 scale kits from MikroMir, one good and one not so good, I was wondering how this latest "double kit" effort would hold up They turned out to be pleasant builds, with a lot of small plastic details - what made them a little bit fiddly - due to the limted run nature Part I Part II Part III August 2016 - Can't stop - Matchbox : Westland Lynx Another stash reduction build - as I had 4 Matchbox Lynx helicopters in the stash With this build I had 2 Westland Lynx helicopters in the Heli Group Build Part I Part II July 2016 - Halfway to crazy - RarePlane : Nakajima Army Type 91 - First To Fight : PzKpfw A Ausf.A I was crazy enough to start another vac build - for the Gordon Stevens Memorial Group Build But at the same time it was also an entry for the Asia Mainland Group Build ... and I threw in a little Panzer Part I Part II Part III Part IV (PzKpfw A Ausf.A build) July 2016 - Diving on the Yangtze - Airfix : Henschel Hs-123A-1 Since I had still 2 Airfix Hs-123s in the stash, I dedicated one to a quick build for the Asia Mainland Group Build It is still a nice kit - and I experimented with a whacky camo scheme... Part I Part II June 2016 - My silver lining - the adversary - Trumpeter : F-86F-30-NA Sabre After the Korean War MiG-15, I figured I had to add a Korean War Sabre to the collection Part I June 2016 - My silver lining - Eduard : MiG-15 The best quality 144 scale kits I have so far assembled Part I Part II Part III April 2016 - Le vent nous portera - Frog : Lynx Multi-role helicopter I bought this for the Heli Group Build - because of the attractive color scheme Unfortunately it was not an enjoyable build - it is quite basic and clunky, but I managed to finish it Part I Part II (incl. Model Force 2015 show report) April 2016 - A little surprise - Mark I Models : Brewster F2A-2/B-339B Buffalo A surprise release from Mark I Models, and luckily I was able to score one very soon, which I started immediatly There are two kits in the box, I built them both - and both are nice little builds ... though I still managed to put the cowling upside down on one of them Part I Part II Part III March 2016 - Sting me - Airfix : Scorpion tank I bought and build this to complete my Airfix post war tanks collection Not the best kit in this collection - the tracks and road wheels were pure hell to get them on the model Part I (incl. Flanders Modelling Festival 2016 show report) March 2016 - Weekend Rasante - APEX : Polikarpov R.5 - Minairons : Chevrolet 1.5 ton truck It's a very basic kit, so I started it as a quick build, not expecting much of it It was a very straight forward build - and it turned out much better then expected I gave it the company of a little Chevrolet truck from Minairons - which brought a replacement machine gun Part I Part II Part III Part IV (incl Plein Feux sur le Maquettisme 2016 show report) February 2016 - On my way to the Oscars - Airfix : Leopard tank Since I got back into tanks, this one was at the top of my list - I scored this one on ebay for a reasonable price, though the box was crushed A pleasant build, and slowly I'm going beyond the OOB concept - with doing one major addition, being the turret basket It also served as a practice for weathering, which succeeded well with a few revisions Part I Part II (incl. Flanders Modelling Festival 2015 show report) January 2016 - Little brother - Mark I Models : Bristol Beaufighter Mk.Ic The anouncement of this kit in the summer of 2015 was a very sweet surprise for me, and I bought one as soon as it was released It was a very pleasant build - by far the best Mark I Models kit I've build so far Part I Part II (incl. Plastic Winter 2015 show report) Part III January 2016 - Keeping it in the family - Valom : Fokker F-VIIb/3m Somehow I liked this lesser known combatant as my entry for the Spanish Civil War Group Build It is a short limited run kit - so it had it's fair share of challenges, though luckily nothing dramatic I'm very pleased with it in the end - and I like to do another F-VII some day... December 2015 - Hurry hurry ! - Zvezda : Hawker Hurricane Mk.I A quick final build of the year Typical Zveda, good shape - rather basic - but a fun quick build I was surprised this little 1/144 scale snap kit captured the shape of the Hurricane so well Part I December 2015 - Genesis - Frog : Focke-Wulf Fw-190A Built just for fun And to complete my Fw-190 model kit collection - this is the first shortnose in 1/72 scale, going back to 1959 Surprisingly, this old classic still was good for several hours of fun Part I Part II December 2015 - Lude the experiment - Revell : Fokker D-VII - Reviresco : 1913 Mercedes Torpedo To complete my Revell World War I collection I built this kit, and because it didn't have any decals, I used for the first time Reviresco full kit decals on it I also discovered the white metal car range of Reviresco, and gave the Mercedes a try, the perfect ride for the pilot Part I Part II (incl. Fellow Airfix builder Neil Scrimgeour showed up with a VC-10 build on the Airfix forum, and kindly pointed me in the direction of some interesting decals from TwoSixDecals. This was the kiss of life for this dead project. Upon examining both kits, I discovered the Whirlwind model was already started. I don't like partially build kits in the stash - that's how I ended up building my first helicopter kit EVER.
